Overview

The software company Grammarly develops an AI-based writing assistant that helps people communicate more efficiently in English and achieve their goals. Every day, more than 30 million people and 50,000 business teams around the world rely on its real-time suggestions to improve their writing. With a wide range of innovative approaches, the company is breaking new ground in natural language processing (NLP) and generative AI to offer unrivalled support in its product range. For this reason it was named by TIME as one of the 100 most influential companies and by Fast Company as one of the most innovative AI companies in the world. Grammarly is among the industry leaders on the Forbes Cloud 100 list and The Software Report’s Top 100 Software Companies. The company recently opened its fifth hub worldwide, in Berlin. Other locations are in San Francisco, New York, Kyiv and Vancouver, with more than 800 team members in total.

Challenge

The biggest challenge is to position Grammarly in an already well-established market and to set it apart from other online writing assistants. In addition, the offering is available in English, so the growing importance of English in professional and private life is worth highlighting. Not everyone is comfortable with working with artificial intelligence. We therefore also have to do educational work here and show the benefits of using it and the future prospects.

Solution

With targeted communication strategies, we use various media channels to communicate the benefits of Grammarly to writers in Germany and to establish the company as a trustworthy brand that adheres to state-of-the-art security standards and never sells or rents users’ data. With thought leadership articles, we demonstrate the company’s industry expertise and point to Grammarly’s more than 14 years of AI experience. Interviews round this off and give the Silicon Valley specialists the opportunity to convey the company’s vision. Stories about life and work at Grammarly also strengthen employer branding.

Impact

Since the start of our PR work for Grammarly in November 2022, we have achieved more than 61 articles in renowned and relevant media, raising Grammarly’s profile in Germany. This included interviews with Heise and Handelsblatt, which are among the most important media in technology and business reporting. As a result, we were able to highlight Grammarly’s expertise in artificial intelligence and NLP. Overall, our efforts have helped Grammarly be perceived as a strong competitor in the field of AI-based writing assistants.
