PLAN4 Software GmbH, based in Freiburg, has developed GebäudeCheck, software that enables municipalities in particular to digitally record their building stock, assess its condition and prioritise renovations. We position PLAN4 and its co-founder and managing director Thorsten Harig as experts in data-driven building assessment and municipal renovation planning.

Overview
Challenge
Municipalities face a multi-billion-euro investment backlog and growing pressure from the EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive and renovation obligations, yet many lack even a reliable data basis on their own buildings. For PLAN4, the task was to make this unwieldy topic tangible for public administrations, local politics and the construction sector, and to establish the software not as a mere IT product but as the answer to a pressing management problem.
Solution
In a strategy workshop we developed the positioning, target groups and newsworthy storylines, and built a PR plan from them. Press releases tie in with current debates: the municipal investment backlog, climate targets for public buildings and how election promises actually become completed renovation projects.
Thorsten Harig provides expert commentary on each topic. In addition, we place guest articles in trade media covering construction, public administration and digitalisation, as well as interviews.
Impact
Since the start, almost 20 articles have appeared in construction, real estate and public sector media, including Bauen aktuell, Building.net, Kommune21, eGovernment, Immobilien Aktuell, Baulinks and the trade magazine Der Gemeinderat, some of them as guest articles by Thorsten Harig.
